Drainage work on US-95 White Bird Grade to begin Monday

ITD will place traffic control on US-95 on the White Bird Grade for a month starting Monday to improve drainage along the highway.

The Idaho Transportation Department will begin drainage maintenance this Monday, Aug. 31, on U.S. Highway 95 on the White Bird Grade.

Crews will work Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. to clean out and reshape roadside ditches along the highway. During working hours, the highway will be reduced to one lane, and drivers will be guided through the work zone by flaggers and a pilot car. Work is anticipated to continue until the end of September.

Improving roadside drainage helps prepare US-95 for winter by directing water away from the roadway and reducing the potential for drainage issues during wet and freezing conditions.

Travelers should slow down, follow directions from flaggers and allow additional time when traveling through the area. Check Idaho 511 for current highway conditions before traveling.
